I.
If you live on planet Earth you’ve probably seen a quote that paints having multiple interests in a negative way. For example:
“I’d rather do one thing well than ten things poorly.”
Unfortunately, the list goes on.
I don’t believe this philosophy to be serving us. Humans are multi-faceted and multi-dimensional. This way of thinking pigeon holes us into thinking that we should hide our individuality. No one is stopping you from being a rock climbing part-time comedian doctor. Of course, you’ll probably spend most of your time being a doctor, but that doesn’t mean you need to neglect rock climbing or your love for comedy.
II.
I recently finished reading Building a Story Brand by Donald Miller. Even if you don’t work in marketing or have a side hustle, this book can help you think about the words you use, the feelings you invoke, and the messages you communicate. I highly recommend giving this book a read.
III.
And with that, I’m going to leave you with this quote.
“There is no better test of a man than his integrity when he is wrong” – Marvin Williams
Think about a time where you were recently wrong. How did you react? Were you rude? Were you humble? How did you make the other person feel? Think about how you could’ve handled the situation differently.
In case you missed it, my best performing post of the week was “Being a good communicator is a cheat code.”
