Abundance, Detachment, and Taking the long way home

sent by BRANDON TURP

Welcome to this week’s issue of 3 Minute Thursday.

I.

A simple tip for creating an abundance mindset:

Some of us do anything and everything to distract ourselves when we go to bed because we can’t stand being alone in our thoughts. Playing on our phones or turning on Netflix just for the background noise. That’s because bedtime is often an opportunity for our minds to wander and overthink, which forces us to toss and turn instead of sleep.

This tip is simple. Ready?

Every night before you go to bed, think about one thing that went well that day.

It’s that simple.

Go on a treasure hunt to find at least one thing that went well that day.

Close your eyes and start in the morning and search hour by hour through your day.

It’s a low lift and easy to implement routine.

Focusing on the positive things right before you sleep will help you feel calm and relaxed.

II.

We’re always in a rush.

Never leaving ourselves the space to think and reflect.

After all, we only have so much time.

It’s sad really.

We get so caught up in our day to day that we forget to smell the roses.

We take every possible shortcut we can find.

But really, sometimes we need to take the long way home.

Travel the less beaten path.

Embrace not being in a hurry.

I encourage you to take the long way home this week.

Whatever that means to you.

III.

And with that, I’m going to leave you with a quote,

“Detachment is not that you should own nothing, but that nothing should own you.” — Ali Ibn

Until next week,
